A Study On Sustainable Development Of Shanxi Coal Industry

The world today is facing with three major thorny issues, including large population, shortage of resources and environmental pollution. Therefore, it has been widely acknowledged by countries around the world that choosing a path of sustainable development is a necessity to coordinate the relationship between resources, ecological environment and economical development.This paper analyzes the status quo of coal exploration and utilization in Shanxi province through introduction of some basic theories and current situation of research on sustainable development at home and abroad, along with discussion of latest progress made by domestic and foreign coal industry in the field of sustainable development. It attempts to find out some inflectional factors in aspects of economy, population, resource, environment and society, all of which can affect sustainable development of Shanxi coal industry. On such basis, a sustainable development evaluation index system of Shanxi coal industry is established according to related research results in and out of our country. In addition, the author further analyses and discusses the comprehensive methods of evaluating sustainable development of Shanxi coal industry and the determining weights method, which to some extent may solve the problem in current weighting method--complexity in calculating the weight. This paper adopts a subjective weighting method, in which a new evaluation approach for evaluating sustainable development of Shanxi coal industry—G1 fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method-- is put forward.As related theories on sustainable development of Shanxi coal industry and the newly-established evaluation method are all applied in analysis of coal industry in Linfen area , we can fulfill dynamic analysis of empirical cases and at the same time examine the reliability and validity of these theories and methods practically .
