| As a result of fierce competition in the market, consumers demand for products is diversified and specialized. The function and performance of the products is no longer the main factor that influences consumers buying decision and more attention is paid to the consumers' psychological needs. Therefore, while the enterprises improve the function quality of the products, they should at the same time enhance the sensory quality to meet the emotional needs of consumers in order to improve product competitiveness so that they can succeed in the fierce competition in the market. This requires designers to break the traditional design methods and outthink the design limitations. Designers must know about the psychological demand of consumers and explore their emotional needs. In the design process, designer should be able to grasp emotional needs of consumers and turn them into product design factors. However, as the research on sensory quality of products is still in the initial stage, lack technical tools for sensory quality evaluation and product design, which seriously affect the improvement of product sensory.This paper makes a research on evaluation and optimization design of sensory quality, and based on QFD and Taguchi Method, it proposes a design model for optimizing the product sensory quality. In the paper, it firstly analyzes the domestic and foreign research on sensory quality. Secondly, the paper makes a research about sensory characteristics of products and human sensitivity, and introduces sensory quality evaluation factors--sense factor and indicators to measure the level of sensory quality--the feeling discrepancy (FD) and feeling ambiguity (FA). Then, the paper analyzes the QFD and Taguchi Method and presents an optimizing design model for product quality based on them. According to the model, a method is proposed to optimize the designing of sensory quality. Finally, the paper makes use of the proposed method to optimize the sensory quality of a China-made car. The result shows that the sensory quality has been greatly improved, which shows effectiveness of the optimization design model. |
