Wuding River, one tributary of yellow river in its right bank, flows through the northern Loess Plateau. It is the largest river in Yulin city. In recent years, with the country's energy base construction and tremendous economic and social development in Yulin city, the demand for water increases dramatically. In the context of global warming, precipitation variability of Wuding River Basin in arid and semi-arid areas has a trend of further expansion which makes the already fragile eco-environment further deteriorated and the achievement of struggling sand control in the previous decades wiped out. In light of the lower rainfall and extensive damage of vegetation, and Maowusu desert expends directly to the south without barriers and threat ecological safety in Guan Zhong and the North China. Wuding River Basin is rich in mineral resources, but water demand will be enormous in the exploitation of these resources. Its drying up has brought uncertainties to the future construction of the national energy base and water has become the biggest bottleneck that constrains the economic development. To explore the reasons for Wuding river drying up and its impact on industry and agriculture and the methods and measures to solve its drying up is not only a problem to develop the local economy and improve people's lives, but also a major key factor for the smooth construction of the country's energy base and the protection of national energy security. In this paper, based on a lot of reference to Wuding River Basin hydrology and climate change, economic development trends and environmental planning documents and government planning report, based on a lot impact of rivers'drying up on ecology, environment and economic and social development at home and abroad, according to water resource reserve and utilization and forecasting future population and industrial development size in the region, the author try to determine the level of water shortage in the future and its impact on industry and agriculture. Main conclusions are: under the influence of the human and climate change drying up trend of Wuding river will be more severe. As the industrial and agricultural development, water crisis will deepen and the extent of the constraints of industry and agriculture become more apparent. Meanwhile the conflicts of water demand for between ecology and industry and agriculture development will become more acute, which is difficult to balance. To Stop impact of drying up on economic and social development, this article attempts to improve the ecological environment of the basin to regulate the temporal and spatial distribution of water resources, improve water use efficiency, increase awareness of water conservation and other measures to slow drying up of the river fixed frequency and its impact and to find the appropriate balance point between the protection of local ecological security and water demand of economic development, promoting Wuding River Basin sustainable economic and social development.
