Aimed at solving all kinds of disadvantages of raster graphic data management in GIS software, hierarchically both structure and implementation project of the raster graphic database are studied in this dissertation. The data base engine model design and image processing form main part of the dissertation. The main point lies in the management of a great lot raster data and service for processing raster data rapidly and accurately. Hierarchically emphases are put on the structure of database engine, the model of data management, database system design, the development method, and so on in the dissertation the system of grid database management is accomplished partly based on the platform of boundary GIS system. The main points of this dissertation are as follows:1 , Based on synthetically analysis of all kinds of researched results, hierarchically structure of Raster database engine is studied. The hierarchically structure of database management system based on raster graphic is built up and its most important technologiesare analyzed in detail.2, The analyses and comparison of the characteristics of commercial mainstream data model of data base management system have been made. In order to meet the requirement of grid data allocation by boundary GIS, a kind of grid data base organization model is offered through concluding its characteristics and function. The storage mode of grid data is analyzed in Oracle data base.3 , Based on what has been studied, the design of grid data geometry processing module are accomplished. The structure and function of every portion are expatiated. Many function are accomplished such as image geometry rectification, projection generation and map join.4, With the task development, grid database engine is integrated into the platform of boundary GIS system. The function of grid database management is accomplished based on relational database.
