The Ningnan region is located in the western margin of Yangtze Platform, the eastern margin of the Kang-Dian Axis, and the middle part of the well-known Kang-Dian Pb-Zn metallogenetic belt. The lead-zinc deposits in the region spread along the Ganluo-xiaojiang deep fault zone or sub-fault zone. Most of the Pb-Zn deposits discovered so far are medium or small in size and occur in cluster and zonality.Based on the geological data available, the author analyzes the favorable ore-forming conditions for the Pb-Zn mineralization in Ningnan region, and on the basis of the detailed study of the Paoma deposit, an exploration model for Pb-Zn deposits in the region is developed.By analysing the models of prospect for pb-zn deposit, database layers in the Ningnan region such as geology database, geochemistry database and ore deposits(occurrences) database are abstracted and constructed by the making use of MAPGIS and Arcview GIS software. By integrating with Wofe function module based on Arcview GIS platform, 5 potential areas for Pb-Zn deposits are delineated with evidence weight modeling. The research has shown that the evidence weight model is easy to realize and has reliable results. Integrating with Arc-WofE system, the efficiency and accuracy of modeling predication is obviously improved.
