With the progress of network technology and computer technology, GIS is no longer limited to stand-alone closed system, but a combined system composed of different machines from different places. Its development direction is turning to Web GIS and Distributed GIS based on network. GIS Web Services using Web Service technology broke through the limitations of the traditional service model, solved the problem of geographic information sharing and interoperability and realized GIS application in heterogeneous environment. It becomes a hot spot in current research.The current Internet age known as the Web2.0 era emphasizes the sense of immersion and interactivity with users. So dose the Web service application of geographic information. No good using feeling, no user. How to get the fastest response speed and the best using feeling becomes one of the main bottlenecks. To addressing this issue, following areas are studied:GIS Web Services is the mode of services using Web Service. First of all, the general development of Geographic Information Services is discussed. The research indicates that GIS Web Services is the direction of technology development. The paper also summarized kinds of typical GIS Web Serivces.Secondly, the styles of two typical Web Service structure are contrasted. One is REST, the resources oriented architecture style and the other is SOAP RPC. Compared with SOAP RPC, the REST style is not only closer to the characteristics of network, but also fitter for geographic information services. Based on the Web Services structure of REST style, the architecture of stretchy geographic information Web Services adapting for intercurrent environment is designed and the typical Geographic Information Services is developed.After that, several issues which impact the speed of responding in typical Geographic Information Services are discussed and the corresponding optimization strategies are put forward. On the aspect of great amount of spatial data, building proper spatial index and database connection pool can make the data operation more effective. At the foregrounding of real-time map service, a dynamic cache middleware for tiles is designed, which greatly improves the effect of WMS Service. On the third aspect, data compression and network transmission, the optimization strategies are HTTP data compression and transmission step by step.Finally, combined with the project of geographic information public platform of digital city, the classical Web application test software Web LOAD is used to simulate the intercurrent environment and analyze the effect. The results confirm the practicability of the quickly responding technology studied by this paper.
