As the fast blooming of the steel making industry and the production capacity increased dramatically in China at present, the negative impacts of the high energy consumption and magnitude pollution are coming with day by day. The main serious contamination emitted into air is from iron and steel making, and coke oven batteries in the form of deleterious gases which are CO2, SO2, NOx, TSP, and so on. When SO2 gets into air, it comes back in the form of acid rain or SO2 particles, which causes the secondary contamination.One of main routing of iron and steel works is EAF production, which is the most important pollution source generated during the production. Now, coming with fast development of steel making, there are a lot of new steel making technology applied in production process, such as high power inputting, intensive oxygen blowing with lance and sidewall lances and hot metal charging. All these new technology application creates a huge amount of extreme high temperature, high density and sticky dust in off-gas. And this dust causes most critical pollution problem, so to solve this pollution problem is important and urgent today for gradually strict environmental regulation. How to eliminate EAF fume pollution and the study of EAF de-dusting system become very important and practical.The original de-dusting system in EAF STEL MAKING Company of Hangzhou Iron and Steel Group was old and traditional, and composed of elephant house (teeming crane passing), Water Cooled EAF elbow on EAF roof, movable duct, post-combustion chamber, water cooled duct, force draft cooler with small fans and bag house.This is old de-dusting system and it does not match present advanced steel making process and is not suitable to environment requirement of heal first concept. This article is subject to the revamping of the de-dusting system. The study of the de-dusting system and other steel plants has been done, and for the de-dusting system revamping of Hangzhou Steel is base on the its actual state with solid and full evaluation. Its final solution of revamping is to enlarge the total flow of the complete de-dusting system that is to add tow main fans and a new bag house; to set up a new fume mix chamber; to increase the EAF primary line flow and pressure with new booster fan in order to suck more fume from second hole on EAF; to enlarge the diameter of water cooling duct and its cooling water flow; eliminating the draft cooler which was with pipe diameter of 89 mm and to install a new nature cooler; to put a new second duct line on melting shop roof to increase the suction capacity on EAF roof; to improve the LD de-dusting results with new LF booster fan and movable hood. According above mentioned the revamping plan, the revamping de-dusting system of the technical data and parameters have been calculated and the system has been designed. Its components were carefully chosen, erection and commission were done according to the designing.After the revamping of the de-dusting system and its application, the dust on working platform and all other important figures are reached the expected targets. The designing of new hood and new post combustion chamber guarantees the max. fume suction. The new system is not only providing the clean working place for the worker but also wins great environment profits; the application of reverse plus inject bag house designing maximizes to capture dust inside dust conveyer system to avoid second pollution. This revamping reduced the tremendous pollution from the residential area near the Steel Plant and reached large economical benefits. The success of this revamping is the development and application of the experience combination at home and aboard, and is the perfectly successful combination between the theory and practice. This revamping of the de-dusting system is reached advance technology at home and aboard and it has very positive reference value for other's revamping of the de-dusting system.
