Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) has been applied to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze organic compounds in many areas. In this paper, our study maily focuses on detection of some pollutants in environmental water and toxicant in marine ecosystem by GC/MS.As an environmental friendly separation and enrichment technique, solid phase extraction (SPE) was widely applied to environmental analysis due to its many advantages, such as less organic solvent consumption, simple and fast. In this paper, determination methods of 4 kinds of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) and 16 kinds of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in environmental water were developed by SPE-GC/MS using novel types of material as SPE absorbents, including the following: (1).Rapid analysis of four OPPs (dichlorvos, methyl parathion, malathion, parathion) in underground water was developed by SPE-GC/MS using hydrophilic-lipophilic Cleanert PEP extraction cartridges. (2).Determination method of 16 PAHs in sea water by SPE-GC/MS was developed using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as SPE sorbent. The results showed that MWCNTs can be an excellent SPE sorbent for PAHs. (3). Determination method of 16 PAHs in environmental water samples was developed by SPE-GC/MS using bamboo charcoal as SPE absorbent. Bamboo charcoal as SPE absorbent had higher recoveries for 16 PAHs than commercial C18 SPE absorbent. The developed method was cheap, simple as an excellent alternative for the routine analysis in environmental field.'Diatoms- copepod-fisher'was the main way for material cycle and energy flow in classic marine food chain of marine ecosystem. But some diatom species particularly in high concentration induced inhibitory effects on egg fecundity and hatching rate of copepods. Reactive unsaturated aldehydes produced by marine diatoms upon cell damage interfere negatively with the reproduction success of their grazers. So it is important to analyze chemical substances and aldehydes in diatoms and copepods eggs. In this paper, chemical substances and aldehydes in diatoms were qualitative and quantitative analysis, including: (1).Qualitative analysis of chemical constituents in Prorocentrum micans and Skeletonema costatum within laboratory culture by GC/MS. n-Hexane and chloroform/methanol (V:V 2:1) were chosen as extraction solvent by ultrasonic extraction of chemical constituents in the two algaes above. (2).Analysis method of six aldehydes ((E)-2-hexenal, heptanal, (E)-2-heptenal, (E,E)-2,4-heptadienal, (E)-2-decenal, (E,E)-2,4-decadienal) in two laboratory cultured diatoms (Skeletonema costatum and Prorocentrum micans) were developed by headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME). (3).Analysis method of six aldehydes in laboratory cultures diatoms and eggs was developed by HS-SPME with derivative process on SPME fiber. The method was applied for the analysis of aldehydes in Skeletonema costatum, Chaetoceros Muelleri, Prorocentrum micans, Scrippsiella trochoidea, and Calanus sinicus eggs.
