Solid phase extraction (SPE) is a fast and easy sample preparation technique, widely used in food and drug analysis. The structure and properties of sorbents affect the selectivity and enrichment capabilities of SPE procedure. Traditional SPE stationary phases include silica gel, porous carbon and ion-exchange materials to the polymeric materials based on styrenedivinylbenzene. In recent years, new materials have been developed, such as immunosorbents(ISs), molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) and restricted access materials (RAMs). However, the above materials present low recoveries for the polar compounds or does not apply to the pretreatment of samples with solid particles. In order to improve the extraction efficiency of polar compounds, the novel materials, hydrophilic - hydrophobic balance sorbents, which were made by introducing polar moieties to hydrophobic polymers. We introduced Magnetic nanoparticles to polymers for high-throughput automated sample pretreatment. In this thesis, we developed the preparation of hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance sorbents, and carefully studied the retention behavior of polar compounds. We explored the way of combining magnetic nanoparticles with the existing sorbents. We also explored the preparation and application of the magnetic SPE sorbents.W1e successfully prepared three kinds of hydrophilic-hydrophobic sorbents ,based on divinylbenzene. Such sorbents performed excellent retention dominance of aromatic amines. So the sorbents could be used for separation and enrichment of polar compounds. Sulfonated sorbents were used for extracting melamine in milk, and got a higher recovery. The sorbents have good wetting property compared to styrene matrix that required in GB. We prepared magnetic hydrophilic-hydrophobic sorbents for the first time, which had advantage in high-throughput sample screening, then applied this kind of sorbent to extract trace aromatic amines in water. Finally, according to the needs of biological applications, we initially prepared magnetic polymer submicron spheres. The microspheres had smaller size and higher magnetic content, and had bright prospect in biological analysis.
