LF refining is one of the outer steel refining methods, which is an important partduring the advanced steel processing. In the processing the molten steel can be heated, inorder to product the advanced steel or special quality steel, adding some ferroalloy tofine-tune the composition of the molten steel, blowing argon gas to uniform compositionof the steel, final. Because of the use of three-phase short circuit between the electrodesof steel arc heating, the control electrode is very important.Based on150-ton converter LF refining furnace electrode regulator system of HebeiIron and Steel Company Chengde branch introduced the development of LF refiningfurnace’s processing control and electrode control. Combined with LF refining furnaceproduct processing introduced its major equipment and its’ role, analyzed thecharacteristics of four ways of electrodes control, and according to the characteristics ofthe refining process analyzed LF refining furnace electrode control model.On the basis of the existing hardware realized the control of electrodes. Because ofLF refining furnace electrode with characteristics of multiple inputs, nonlinear, time-varying, the conventional PID control was difficult to get good regulation effects.Learned PLC programming knowledge and monitoring software, written the electrodesadaptive fuzzy PID control program in Siemens S7-400, and made its’ operation andmonitoring picture in industrial configuration software Intouch. The system has beenpracticed in150-ton converter LF refining furnace production processing of ChengdeIron and Steel Company, compared with the conventional PID control, the electrodecontrol has been improved.Also described the knowledge of fuzzy control and neural network intelligentcontrol, and combined the two in the electrodes control theoretical studied aspects, buttheoretical study was not applied in the actual electrode control system.
