Taking the example of cumene to phenol acetone device, this article describes the cumene to phenol acetone production process. This article identifies and analyzes the material risks of the main chemical substances involved in the production process (raw materials, products, by-products) and the safety risks of the production units. Research and analysis indicate that cumene, cumene hydroperoxide, phenol, acetone and hydrogen and other flammable hazardous substances bring fire, explosion and poisoning risks. Also other types of accidents that may occur include:choking, scalding, electrocution, objects blow, vehicle damage, mechanical injury, falls, explosions of containers; occupational hazards that may occur mainly include:toxic substances, noise and heat. Then oxidation reactor unit, concentrate column unit, the decomposition reaction unit, the hydrotreating unit and cumene tank reactor unit which have a great risk were analyzed. The simulation analysis of accident consequences is used to simulate pool fire, flash fire, jet fire, vapor cloud explosion and acute poisoning which may be caused by acetone, phenol intermediate storage tanks and associated piping leaks.
