Process of polycarbonate producing is analyzed in this thesis. Hazard research on main chemical materials (raw materials, products and intermediates), and safety analysis on production units are studied. Dow’s chemical fire & explosion index hazard classification, phosgene and phosgenation production safety evaluation are used to make a analysis on the process units. Analysis indicates the existence of a variety of hazardous factors in the process of polycarbonate producing which may cause fire, explosion, poisoning accidents. Fire & explosion risk index of bisphenol A and polycarbonate production unit are respectively 128 and 110.9, toxicity index of phosgene synthesis and phosgenation reaction unit are 18.4 and 11.3, and the overall risk index and the consequences of the accidents could be decreased obviously after taking appropriate safety measures. The accident consequence simulation and quantitative risk calculation shows that appropriate safety measures could significantly reduce the risk of accidents. In the supposed accident conditions, the personal risk can be decreased by more than 90%. The evaluation results and the countermeasures proposed provide a theoretical basis for safety management of the process units.
