Ecological Function Regionalization And Protection Measures Of Qinhuangdao Economic And Technological Development Zone

Qinhuangdao Economic and Technological Development Zone’s establishment was approved by State Council in October, 1984. As a frontier area of economic development, Qinhuangdao Economic and Technological Development Zone is suffering from environmental problems at the same time of enjoying rapid economic development. To build a resource-saving and environment-friendly society, the zone has to carry out a sustainable economic development while protecting the environment. Due to the factors of terrain, climate, hydrology, soil, flora and fauna, and economic and social conditions, different parts of the ecosystem have obvious differences. In order to maintain ecological balance and sustainable development of the economy, we must attach importance to the improvement and recover of urban ecological environment.The paper has presented some corresponding measures regarding to the ecological function regionalization of Qinhuangdao Economic and Technological Development Zone. The result includes the following points:(1) Introduction to the background, purpose and significance of ecological function regionalization of the zone. And has determined the contents of this paper based on a summary of current researches.(2) To analysis the development zone’s environmental status from its geographical, climatic and meteorological characteristics, land quo and etc. To evaluate the zone’s ecological services, ecosystem health, ecological sensitivity and ecological suitability. To establish evaluation index system this suits the regional economy. To gain a comprehensive conclusion after combination of all single factor evaluation. Finally, the ecological suitability assessment result of the planned residential land is suitable. And the result for industrial land is very suitable.(3) Using combined method of qualitative description and quantitative clustering, the city is regional divided into 8 ecological function areas, including 21 functional cells. Zone is positioned as an industrial zone. The direction of development is mainly on non-polluting industries and heading to a comprehensive development zone, by combining with the real estate development, tertiary industry, tourism resort spa industry. Establishment of the development zone will lead the region to become fragile and the decline of ecosystem’s service function, but the impact on wildlife species will be small. Frequent human disturbance activities will cause the loss of water and soil, including 131,300 t in water and 86,500 t in soil. According to the zone’s main ecological problems, this paper has put forward sustainable measures to promote its sustainable development.
