As the hazy weather appeared frequently, people hope that the pollution can be governed quickly.Domestic scientists also paid attention to the governance of haze, Chinese scientists plan to build a facility of manufacturing artificial fog haze in Beijing huairou,which is the largest all over world.It aims to simulate the formation and governance of the haze.Activated carbon has good adsorption effect, It can be used in air purification, or removing impurity in industry, etc.So the research of activated carbon has very extensive application value.The main purpose of this experiment research that whether its resistivity will change after the activated carbon adsorbs water,toluene,pentane and ethanol.we chose two kinds of activated carbon as adsorbent, and chose water, toluene, ethanol and pentane as adsorbate. We have done two types of experiment.The one is that the activated carbon adsorbs water, toluene, ethanol and n-pentane,the other is that the activated carbon adsorbs two-component mixed gas.The main research contents and conclusions are as follows: (1) Most adsorption column which is used in the gas adsorption test is circular.We need to measure the resistance of the activated carbon in this experiment.Therefore, the choice of the adsorption column is a very important factor which will effect the success rate of the experiment. We designed a rectangular adsorption column in the experiment,and installed electrode on both sides of the adsorption column.The electrode is made of nickel. Nickel is a kind of good electrical conductivity, and can be avoided of oxidation in a short time. So that the measurement of resistance become simple, and the error can be greatly reduced.(2) Toluene, ethanol and n-pentane are common volatile organic gases, we selected these as the research object.The experiment content is that the activated carbon adsorbs toluene, ethanol and n-pentane.We got a a graph of resistance against adsorption time.The purpose is to research the effect of resistivity after activated carbon adsorbs these three kinds of organic gas.(3) We also did a experiment that activated carbon adsorbs two-component mixed gas.One of the mixed gases is made with water and toluene, the other is made with water and ethanol.The purpose is to research the effect of moisture on adsorption of organic gases. Experiment shows that the resistance variation is between each single component’s resistance variation.(4) This research focuses on the resistivity of activated carbon.After activated carbon adsorbs the volatile organic gas,its resistivity will change.Experiments show that the resistance will decrease after activated carbon adsorbs the organic gas, the research results can be applied to the improvement of the air purifier.We can determine the utilization rate of activated carbon in the air purifier by this way.Furthermore, the air purifier can save the cost of replacement, and safeguard people’s health.
