The movement of shredder residue in the Density Vibration Screen is mainly decided by the movement of screen, the usual sorting method is according to the size of shredder residue, using the hole sieve screen to sort, but for non-metallic shredder residue of end of life vehicles, the sizes of non-metallic shredder residue are same, so cannot use sieve screen to sort, and the properties of non-metallic shredder residue of end of life vehicles are same, so cannot use near infrared light and flotation to sort. In this paper, using a new vibration sorting method, it uses no hole sieve screen to sort, which will not only provide theoretical basis for the design and optimization of Density Vibration Screen, but also give theoretical inspiration to looking for a new way of sorting.This paper analyzed shredder residue under the influence of stiffness and damping,established the mathematical model of shredder residue on the vibration screen, and analyzed the throwing and sliding motion of shredder residue under different situations. A simulation model with discrete element method(DEM) were composed, and the movement of shredder residue on a single and multiple vibration screen were calculated, and analyzed the influence of various parameters on sorting rates and sorting time, and got the best parameters of sorting rates and sorting time: amplitude was 4mm, vibration frequency was12 Hz, vibration direction angle was 40?, blanking height was 40 mm, screen inclination angle was 7?, length of screen was 300 mm, blanking position was 40 mm, falling rate of second was 20, number of screen was 4 pieces. And experimented the movement of shredder residue on a single vibration screen, the experimental sorting rate and sorting time were consistent with the simulation sorting rate and sorting time, it provided a more reliable basis for engineering design of Density Vibration Screen. Through the simulation analysis and experimental research, optimized design parameters were got, designed 3D model of Density Vibration Screen with optimized parameters, and analyzed the modal of screen with ANSYS, the screen does not occur resonance under actual operatingconditions.This paper did a research on Density Vibration Screen, it was based on physical property and mechanical property of non-metallic shredder residue, the problem of sorting non-metallic shredder residue was solved; and designed the Density Vibration Screen,analyzed the motion of shredder residue under different situations, it provided the theoretical basis and reference for the sorting of non-metallic shredder residue.
