With the rapi d development of c utting technology, the quality and capability of the cutting tool is de mand at a higher and higher degree. As one of the most widely used cutting tools, the end mill has not only high quality of workpie ce surface but also the good cutting performance. Because of the extremely complex structure of the spiral groove of the end mill,the size and shape of the spiral groove has a significant influe nce on the chip, chip removal and the chip flow direction when it in the cutting pr ocess. And also affects the end mill s tiffness, strength and cutting capabili ties. Ther efore, this thesis has a res earch on the design and manufactur e of spiral groove in t he following a spects.1. At pre sent, in order t o manufa cture the standard spiral groove many ma nufact urers use the trial cutting method which by adjusting machini ng parameters a nd usi ng grinding tool.However, the disadvantage of t his method i s inefficiency and having shaping errors between design and manufacture on spiral groove.The manufacture of the spiral groove in thi s thesis is based on the designed spiral groove radial cross-section, the profile obta ined by cal culating the cutting tool(grinding wheel) and the cutting tool(wheel).2.Having a deep analysis on spiral groove in di fferent numbers of teeth, to establish a mathematical model of 2 teeth, 3 teeth and 4 teeth c utte r radial cross- section and vertical milli ng blade line mathematical model. By s olving the mathematical model established, you ca n fi nd the gri nding wheel cross-sectional shape and t he correspondi ng mathemat ica l mode l.3.Using the e stablishe d mathematical model as the theore tic al basis, the grinding wheel cross- sectional Windows based on the platform of XP CAD sys tem is studie d. The system with MATLAB as the mathemati cal tool s, using Vis ual Ba sic language development, pla ns to ac hieve the de sign parame ters and the input end milling machine through adjusti ng the parameters of spiral groove to the system, t he axial secti on of grindi ng wheel the processing of the c utte r can be output of spiral groove shape fi gure.4.pairs of tooth pi tch and variable pitch cutter has carried on the finit e element modal ana lysis, obtained the carbide and high-speed ste el milling cutter with unequal tooth pitch in diffe rent extended first order and five order natural frequency, and the nat ural frequency of the length, with the decrease of L and i ncrease the overhang length. Under the same length of overhanging, t he i nherent fr equencies of the high spee d steel cutter is more lower than the unequa l tooth pitch powder metal lurgy, and the ma ximum deformation is larger. Cutti ng tool material is also t he important factor s influencing the c utti ng tool vibration.
