In the spiral groove milling process, in order to reduce the cutting temperature, extendtool life, increase productivity and surface quality, the traditional casting cooling methodsis used. With the people’s environmental awareness increasingly, the use of coolant causedby the negative impact of environmental pollution, and other cost increases can not beignored, and green cutting technology is pay more and more attention.Oil and gas cooling technology is compressed air and coolant mist through a nozzle toproduce a jet, injected into the processing area, to provide fine droplets of coolant, and is agreen cutting technology. From the jet penetration and capillary permeability, themechanism of oil and gas cooling technology is analyzed in this article. When oil and gascooling is used in process the spiral groove milling, the fine droplets of coolant are ejectedinto the disc the contact area of cutter and screw. It is the permeability enhancement andconducive to full performance of indirect cooling lubricating coolant. High heat transferand convection heat absorbing evaporation are achieved by using droplets of coolant fluid,the direct cooling effect can be significantly improved. Compared with the traditionalcasting cooling and processing, oil and gas cooling technology advantages is an effectiveand viable green manufacturing technologies. The main affecting factors of droplets arepointed out by studying the mechanism of fragmentation of droplets in this paper. Themain parameters of the nozzle are designed. Through the analysis of the nozzle flow field,the structure parameters and system operating parameters are optimized. The oil and gascooling device structure is determined in the spiral groove milling cutter disc. The surfaceroughness of the screw, chip status, disc cutter life and milling temperature are analyzedthrough comparison test between the traditional casting cooling and oil and gas coolingwith LXK300X CNC screw spiral groove milling machine. The oil and gas coolingtechnology is important that reduce the cutting temperature, extend tool life, improvesurface quality screw, reduce processing costs and improve working environment.
