Pu’er tea is a kind of geographical indication products, yielded in some areas of Yunnan Province. Pu’er pie tea is a kind of Pu’er tea, which accounted for a large proportion. After investigated the enterprises producing Pu’er pie tea in Yunnan, we fould that the entire packaging process of Pu’er pie tea currently are carried out by human hands. The main drawbacks of entirely handmade packaging are as follows: Firstly, with the increase of Pu’er pie tea output, the enterprises has to hire more workers, which improves greatly the labor costs. Secondly, with the increase of consumer’s emphasis on food safety, more and more attention has been paid to unsanitary handmade packaging. In addition, there is no uniform standard for handmade packaging, which leads to multifarious appearance. Under abovementioned background, Menghai tea factory put forward the commission for automatic packaging machine of Pu’er pie tea to school.During the whole packaging process of Pu’er pie tea, the inner packaging is the most critical and difficult to achieve mechanization. The research to inner packaging machine in this paper was carried out in Menghai tea factory. The whole study could be divided into three steps:Firstly, the inner packaging process of Pu’er pie tea was reconstructed, combining the investigation of the current status of the inner package and the traditional manual packaging process, based on certain principles-meeting mechanization, simple process as far as possible and retaining traditional feature in packaging as far as possible. The above work developed a packaging technology standard of Pu’er pie tea, forming a foundation to the subsequent designers, which promote the standardization of packaging process of Pu’er pie tea.Then, the TRIZ theory was applied to analyze and solve the problem based on the restructuring of the packaging process of Pu’er pie tea. Four kinds of executive mechanism and the auxiliary mechanism of inner packaging of Pu’er pie Tea were designed, which has broken new ground in the exploration of the applying TRIZ to the innovation design of packing machine and laid the foundation for the application of TRIZ theory in innovation design of packaging machine. This exploration also illustrates that the TRIZ theory could be a good guide to elementary innovation design of packing machine.Finally, two preferred schemes were selected for modeling and kinematic simulation after discussion and evaluation. Based on the analysis of simulation results and general contrast, tooth folding packaging machine program was selected as the final choice of Pu’er pie tea inner packaging machine.
