Manufacturing is one of the pillar industries of national economic development, and the market requires rapid designing to the new products’ development and manufacture higher and higher. As one of the new technologies in manufacturing, the Rapid Prototyping Technology (RPT) provides a new method to adapt enterprises to the market environment. With low cost, high precision and efficiency, the Laminated Object Manufacturing (LOM) technology becomes into high-profile. At present, the LOM usually uses paper, ceramic foil or metal foil as molding materials, so combining with the research at home and abroad and the technological characteristics of LOM, this paper puts forward PE/wood-flour composites as new materials based on ultrasonic welding.Cutting the molding materials into specified shape with laser, then ultrasonic welding is carried on. Compared with the common cutting and connection methods of wood plastic composite materials, this paper provided the PE/wood-flour RPT supported by that laser cutting and ultrasonic welding technology, analyzed the quality influence factors in the process of laser cutting and ultrasonic welding, and ensured the factors that affect the cutting and welding process.Orthogonal test method was used to find the best parameters that influence the laser cutting PE/wood-flour composites. By the ultrasonic welding tests of PE/wood-flour sheets, the best parameters can be determined. To complete Layered accumulate welding forming with these best parameters, trimmed models were used to analyze inter stress and warping deformation of the specimens. With contrast test of the hot wet performance of the forming artifacts, the strength curves were obtained. The test results prove that ultrasonic welding to PE/wood-flour in LOM is feasibility, and the specimens are with good performance.Combined with the elastic-plastic theory, created the model through ANSYS finite element analysis software, and indicated the boundary conditions. Analyzed the ultrasonic welding process of wood plastic composites and simulated the stress distribution of material interlayer. Obtained the stress fields in the top foil and the substrate during ultrasonic welding, and the displacement and stress change of welding of layer. This work laid the foundation for the further subsequent research.To the new LOM method, the materials are safety, environmental protection, low cost, fast convenient welding, and no waste pollution such as welding slag, sewage, harmful gases. Furthermore, this method is energy conservation, environmental protection and efficient way. The research results in this paper show that the LOM based on the ultrasonic welding process of PE/wood-flour composites is feasible and worthwhile to exploration and practice.
