Plate rolling process is one of the most important metal plastic processing, the rolled products have been widely used in many fields such as machinery manufacturing, container manufacturing, shipbuilding steel, marine build and so on. In the plate rolling process, Non-uniform broadening deformation will produce non-retangular shape plate, cause a lot of cutting head, cutting tail and trimming losses. So, stuying the plate shape control method is crucial to improve the yield and product quality. Based on one plate mill automation system and plane shape control system project in domestic, adopt the method of combining numerical simulation and theorotical analysis, use the large finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA, simulate the plate rolling process by MAS rolling method, vertical and horizontal rolling and the combination of vertical rolling and MAS rolling. The main contents of the paper are as follows:(1) On the basis of related literature of plate shape control, the paper expounds the medium plate rolling process and deformation characteristics, introduces the basic principle and necessity of the plane shape control, the principle and characteristics of all kind of shape control method, the research and devolopment of the plane shape control technology at home and aboard, establish a theoretical foundation for later MAS rolling and vertical and horizontal rolling process simulation.(2) Based on the medium plate rolling process simulation, introduces the function and solving steps of ANSYS/LS-DYNA finite element software, the basic theory of dynamic elastic-plastic finite element and the finite element technology in the application of the mediun plate rolling simulation; analyse the important concepts in the ANSYS/LS-DYNA simulation, the difficulities and solutions in the multi-channel time reversible medium plate rolling process simulation, provide the foundation for establishing the rolling model.(3) Establish the finite element model of MAS rolling and simulate the broadening MAS rolling process. Study the thickness, stress and strain deformation of the slab in the period of MAS rolling pass; compare the head and tail shape deformation in MAS rolling and normal rolling; analyse the relationship between head shape and MAS rolling parameters; combine with the on site commissioning and prodection data at the same time, adjust relevant parameters to ensure the accuracy of the mumerical simulation.(4) Establish the finite element model of vertical and horizontal rolling, simulate the vertical roll rolling process. Describe the slab head and tail, width, dog bone deformation characteristics after the vertical roll rolling and analyze its causes; study the forces, stress and strain conditions in the vertical roll rolling stage; simulate and study the infulunce on slab section after vertical rolling respectively by edger lateral pressure, vertical roll diameter and the thickness of the slab.(5) On the basis of the established rolling model, simulate the horizontal rolling process after vertical rolling. First of all, analyse the characteristics in slab width, head and tail deformation; simulate and study the infulunce on slab broadening, head and tail deformation after the horizontal rolling process after vertical rolling respectively by edger lateral pressure, vertical roll diameter, level reduction and the thickness of the slab.(6) Establish the finite element model of vertical roll-MAS rolling, simulate the rolling process combined by vertical rolling and MAS rolling. Analyse the width,head and tail deformation characteristics of the slab; compare the slab plane shape changes after increasing the vertical roll rolling; simulate and study the infulunce on slab width, head and tail deformation by different edger lateral pressure.
