Steelmaking-continuous casting-hot rolling are the key processes of steel production. Molten iron and scrap is made into slabs by the process of steelmaking and continuous casting. Then hot rolling process makes slabs into hot-rolled coils. Slab yard is built between the two processes as a buffer area to coordinate the production rhythm.We aim to develop a simulation system of steelmaking-continuous casting-hot rolling production processes with high universality, which has the function of visualization modeling. Meanwhile, it could realize the function that factory visual modeling and system simulation according to any actual factory layout. We also study the problems of production scheduling. Using visualization simulation system we have developed, we are able to evaluate the stability of our production before the job/scheduling plan release, find out the potential deficiency in the planning, the possible bottleneck equipment in production processes of steelmaking-continuous casting-hot rolling.The jobs of this paper are listed below.1) Analyze the system to be developed systematically. Through reading lots of related literatures, I have learned the background, implication and research status of the problem. Taking a domestic steel plant as a research object, one can know the real demand of the production manager and analyze the problem, on the basis of which the function requirement and performance requirement of the simulation system are determined. According to the requirement analysis and combining the actual situation of the plant, this paper designs the overall structure and system database of the simulation system.2) Based on the requirement and design of the system, this paper develops an universal simulation system of steelmaking-continuous casting-hot rolling process. To meet functional requirement, the system contains the functions of visual factory modeling, path configuration of logistic, equipment manufacturing standards, customized simulation, operation monitoring and doing statistics. As respect of the models of equipments, we adopt WPF technology for designing and developing and standardized every equipment model. To satisfy the demand of non-functional requirements, this system adopts an advanced technology.NET 4.0 and has reliability and scalability.3) The results of simulation researches on this visual simulation system indicate the feasibility of visualization modeling technology, the correctness and reliability of the model and the simulation system. We conduct a series of simulation experiments of steelmaking-continuous casting-hot rolling production process and conclude that the simulation system can realize the visual simulation of the actual production process. In the same time, it can reach the goal of checking production plan and finding the logistics bottleneck. Validation research proves that simulation system has a high reference value to check the actual production plan/scheduling plan and provides decision supporting for the feasibility of the actual layout of a new factory.
