Spontaneous combustion of coal not only induces the mine fire, threats the safety of production in coal mine and destroys the natural environment but cause environmental pollution. Furthermore this is a resources-wasting phenomenon, it will release much heat and toxic gases in the process of spontaneous combustion, and then causes the underground operating personnel casualties and economic losses. Goaf is divided into scattered tropical, oxidation temperature and choking three zones based on spontaneous combustion “three zones” division index, finally formed the theory related to the spontaneous combustion “three zones”, Judged the spontaneous combustion situation combines the division of spontaneous combustion three zones and gas extraction under the conditions of buried pipe extraction to of goaf.The distribution spontaneous combustion “three zones” is researched through the methods such as theoretical analysis, laboratory experiments and spot test research under the condition of buried tube drainage in goaf, the results provides the basis fire preventing and extinguishing in goaf. The coupling theory between the goaf gas drainage and spontaneous combustion is analyzed through the theoretical analysis of spontaneous combustion of coal and spontaneous combustion “three zones” in goaf. Raised the law of gas migration from the gas extraction and the seepage theory under the condition of buried pipe. Received the law of gas released with the process of coal in temperature-rise through the coal heating oxidation experiment, and selects the CO gas as index gas suitable for coal spontaneous combustion, which can provide prediction of spontaneous combustion in goaf. In spot tests about gas buried pipe, the monitoring data from goaf is divided by the two indicators like oxygen concentration and temperature to get actual scope of spontaneous combustion “three zones”. According to selecting CO as coal spontaneous combustion index gases by dividing scope spontaneous combustion “three zones” of goaf. Based on the coal heating oxidation experiment, the relevant temperature is judged through monitoring CO concentration in the heat oxidation zone in the spontaneous combustion “three zones”. The spontaneous combustion condition is learned in goaf. Finally the actual fire prevention measures can be proposed, which will provide necessary guarantee for the safety production in coal mine.
