Now the five-axis machining technology is the key link of free-form surface machining. We can do modeling and the process automatic programming by CAD/CAM software and generate the tool path data. But when we need to converse cutter location data to NC codes we need special postprocessors. This paper is of great significance to realize the automation of industrial production. And it can also improve the efficiency of production, machining precision and the quality of the products. The research contents are as follows:1.This paper studies on the algorithm design of five-axis machining postprocessor based on the D-H modified notation method. The D-H parameters definition method is improved. The solution of the D-H parameters is optimized. A special postprocessor for the DMU 80 monoBlock is developed based on the D-H modified notation method. And its correctness is verified by machining simulation of the impeller blade finishing mill.2.This paper studies on the nonlinear error processing and feeding speed correction of the five axis machining. The simplified model and calculation method of the nonlinear error are presented, and the effective control of the nonlinear error by RTCP function is proposed. This paper explains the reason of the feeding speed correction and puts forward the using of CYCL DEF32 instruction to correct the feed speed.3.This paper studies the technology of developing five-axis postprocessor based on UG PostBuilder. The customization function is realized by the secondary development of UG PostBuilder. And a special postprocessor of the DMU 80 monoBlock is developed. Its correctness is verified by the machining simulation of the impeller cavity milling.4.In this paper the characteristics of the two development methods of the postprocessor which are the manual programming based on the D-H modified notation method and the UG PostBuilder are compared and summarized. Conclusions are as follows: for simple configurations of five axis machine tools the use of UG PostBuilder can be fast and relatively easy to achieve postprocessor development. For the special complicated structure using the manual programming based on D-H modified notation method can meet the need of the using requirement.
