With China’s population advantage disappearing and industrial structure adjusting, labor-intensive fine blanking production mainly by manual feeding is facing increasing challenge. Taking short metal strip as research object, which was widely used in small and medium-sized fine blanking enterprise, the paper designed and developed an automatic control system of short metal strip fine blanking including online monitoring of fine blanking mechanical parameters and mold protection.It maked automatic control of short metal strip fine blanking come true, which based on fault diagnosis and mold protection. The research supplied an solution to enhance the level of fine blanking automatic control of our country and it had a certain theoretical and practical value.Firstly, the paper introduced the process of the fine blanking and reviewed the research status about fine blanking automation overseas and domestic. Based on analyzing the development of the fine blanking automation of our country and the requirements of the small and medium-sized fine blanking automation enterprises, we decided to carry out short metal strip fine blanking automatic control system. Secondly, from the essence of fine blanking automation, automatic feeding, fine blanking mold protection and on-line monitoring of fine blanking mechanical parameters four parts, the paper comprehensively analyzed the fine blanking production demand for automatic control system. By means of analog high-speed sampling module, it obtained real-time dynamic curves of the main cutting force, blank-holder force and the back pressure respectively under the normal fine blanking working condition and accident operating condition. After a series data processing included smoothing filtering, drift processing and wavelet multi-scale decomposition analysis, and based on comprehensive comparative analysis, the paper summarized a mold protection strategy. Finally, with a simple fine blanking equipment as the object which was four-column hydraulic fine blanking machine with hydraulic fine blanking die set, the research designed and developed a short plate fine blanking automatic control system based on PLC, the system could automatically controlled fine blanking production process, with special functions that was automatic precision step feed,. mold protection,on-line monitoring of mechanical parameters and so on.The research shows that using PLC as the main control unit of the fine blanking automation control system can solve small and medium-sized enterprises automation production of fine blanking. The research results provide a feasible basis for punching automation control system, perfect single precision mold protection strategy, fine blanking equipment safety protection, which lays foundation for further fine blanking production information.
