Coal is the main energy in the energy structure of China. In the process of coal mining, environmental information was the key factor for safety, such as the temperature, the humidity, gas concentration and so on. The coal mine safety monitoring system based on Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) was developed supported by Kailuan co.,LTD major technical upgrade project. It can effectively solve cabling difficulty, high maintenance costs and monitoring with blind spot by wiring transmission mode, reduce the accident probability, and improve the safety in coal mine.According to the project requirements and relevant information of coal mine safety monitoring, firstly, the coal mine safety monitoring system based on WSN was designed. Secondly, the ZigBee wireless communication protocol and functions and the chip CC2530 were analyzed, then the needed sensors and related components were selected; Finally, a wireless monitoring system were established through the hardware circuits and software programs of network coordinator nodes, routers, terminal nodes were obtained.To ensure it can be applied to the coal mine in practical production, the monitoring system was tested in the coal mine environment test. The basic functions, wireless communication and so on, were tested by the serial debugging software and the Z-Sensor Monitor, and the process displayed dynamically; evaluate and analyze the most reliable transmission distance of the system through performance tests. The test shows that the system realized the requirements of wireless monitoring for temperature, humidity and gas concentration. The system laied a solid foundation for the development of complete wireless monitoring network, and improved the safety in coal mine.
