Welding fixture is one of the necessary equipments in welding manufacture, and it vary with workpiece structures and welding technology0 The welding fixture play an important role in ensuring welding quality, improving manufacture efficiency and easing intensity of workers0 In past, welding fixture are designed by traditional manual methods with low efficiency and long period. With perforcement and application of smart manufacture , iTT manufacture , flexible manufacture and computer integrated manufacture system, the requirement of the advanced welding manufacture technology can not be satisfied by the traditional design method0 For this purpose, the computer aided design research of welding fixture is developed for the future. And the establishment of the WFCAD system is discussed by making an example of manual level-hingle welding fixture. In this paper ,firstly ADS and ARX which are AutoCAD second development technology are analyzed and compared based on the research of the former three graduate students. Then WFCAD System has been established by ARX making programme technology of CAD second development according to the development tendency of the CAD software project and the development and maturity of visible programming tools such as Visual C~,and ADS application programme has been transplanted to ARX environment0 Lastly the whole process of three dimension parametric design of the first, the second and the third fixture and size parametric design of manual level-hinge welding fixture of the first, the second , the third and the forth is discussed0 The new WFCAD system is established by ARX making programme technology and supported by AutoCAD 2000, Visual ~ 6.0 and ObjectARX SDK 3.0, the new WFCAD system can complete the designing and computing of the basic and the structural size of the hinge fixtures, the forming of three dimension drawing and the realizing of 3-D dynamic simulation and make sure that the fixture design can be success on its first run. Meanwhile the idea of element is adopted to establish three dimension parametric drawings library of fixture. And the design efficiency is improved by riching the components of drawing library.
