High-speed Grinder Safety Risk Assessment System And Its Expert System Development

The dissertation researched the method and the tool in the machine safety design of high-speeded grinding machines. Risk assessment was the most important part of the machine safety design. Author presented the high-speeded grinding machine safety risk assessment model to assist machinery and system designers in integrating health and safety into the design process, combining the System Safety Method, the Task-based Approach presented by ANSI B11-TR3 "Risk assessment-A guideline to estimate, evaluate and reduce risks associated with machine tools" and the general machine safety model presented by Hani Raafat professional in Aston University. So the dissertation first introduced the practice of system safety engineering in high-speed grinding machine and Hani Raafat's model, and then presented the High-speeded Grinding Machine Safety Risk Assessment Model(HGMSRAM). Through using the model, could roundly assess the security of the tool, which provided reliable and exact data for implementing safety measures.When used the high-speeded grinding machine risk assessment, would bring many data. If the data were managed by person, the efficiency of design would be reduced. Accordingly, in the base of the high-speed grinding machine safe risk assessment model, author designed the High-speeded Grinding Machine Safety Risk Assessment Expert (HGMSRAE) using Visual C++6.0 in MS-Windows. The program gave designers a quick and easy tool to evaluate safety issue through high-speeded grinding machine design, and assisted design engineers in completing a safety analysis for their products. The author elucidated the principle, components, interface and operating rules of the program in the dissertation.
