Environmental problems have gained more and more attentions. It is desirable, for many textile purposes to provide viscose fibers and yarns having greatly decreased flammability. In the manufacture of rayon by the viscose method, it has been proposed to add various flame-retardant chemicals to the viscose prior to spinning. This approach presents many additional problems because of the particular chemistry of the viscose process. Accordingly, the flame retardant must be stable and inert with respect to the highly alkaline viscose and also with respect to the acid regeneration bath into which the viscose is extruded. It must not be extracted during spinning and processing. Furthermore, the added material must not interfere with the spinning process, for example, cause clogging of the spinnerets. In this paper, sol-gel method is adopted to prepare inorganic flame-retardant nano-viscose fiber. In this thesis, some basic problems about burning and flame-retardant of viscose fiber have been studied. A series of different modified viscose fiber were prepared by blending with sodium silicate, this fiber is inorganic nanometer, the products manufactured by this method has a high level of fire resistance. They are characterized by various techniques, including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC),wide-angle X-rayscattering(WAXS),scanning electron microscope(SEM).Thought techniques, thermal property .. DP and size of surface granularity are analyzed. Burning behavior is investigated with the use of LOI and Cone methods stytemically. the silicic acid made the hydroxyl groups of viscose fiber ofthese molecules of dewater and carbonize ,levoglucan was prevented ,so flammable pyrolysis products were reduced. From the above research, we can concluded that this flame-retardant viscose fiber is an effective, environment friendly flame retardant in viscose fiber.
