Using the methods of academic analysis, numerical simulation and experiments, this paper researches the effect of the big-hole charge on performance of configurations of structure and jet. It also studies the law of design of big-hole shaped charges. This research provides the academic foundation for the development of big-hole shaped charges.Based on academic analysis of the jet configuration, the general plan was designed. Using the numerical simulation program and the explode testing system, an experimental plan was established. This paper discusses Cu-Al multi-material liner's effect on minishing slugs and the feasibility of the powder metal liner to penetrate a concrete target on the ground in performance testing. Our research uses the " Shaped Charge Design Program " developed in co-operation with the Daqing Perforating Charge Plant and the Beijing Applied Physics & Compute Mathematics Research Institute. This set of two-dimensional numerical simulation software can simulate the whole process including charge case explode initiation, detonated wave spread, liner collapse, jet formatting, jet stretching and target. This software can also compare different shapes and material liners, analyzes the process of jet formatting, jet feature parameters and penetrating performance. In the experiment, the X-ray testing system takes pictures of the jet formatting and stretching. According to the pictures, we can calculate the jet tip average velocity. Testing involved penetrating a C45-grade steel target and a concrete target on the ground to examine the penetrating parameters and the performance.
