The thermochromism implies a drastic change in color of substance, which take place when it is heated up to a certain temperature or to a more or less well-defined temperature range. Accompanying the change of color, materials that undergo temperature-induced color changes are termed thermochromic. The origins of thermochromism range from phase transitions in a compound (e.g.,in an organic chromophore),to change in ligand geometry or the number of solvent molecules in the coordination sphere (e.g.,in a pure transition metal complex factors from crystal field effects),to more complex factors in multicomponent mixtures. The use of thermochromic materials in lecture demonstrations has been discussed, and thermochromic paper is available commercially.the enthalpy of the systym will also change, and the more of A H,the evidenter of the change of the colour. Thermochromic systems have numerous applications, including industry mechannicals, such as air-condition,mechannical of oil-refining ect, and color textiles, organic dyes too. Simple organic molecules tend to be colorless with electronic transitions in the UV,whereas visible absorption, or color is usually associated with electronic in extended and conjugated structures. Color is influenced considerably by the extent of conjugation, as well as by the molecular environment imparted by substituents. The reports on organic hydrate thermochronlic material are relatively fewer. For example, poly(xylylviologendibromide) and 4,5-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(4-Nitro-pheny) imidazolium acetate di- hydrate (C23H20N3O4+ C2H3O2- 2H2O),the hydration or dehydration of the crystal structure is related to the color charge of the crystal. The thermochromic Schiff Bases are the other family of compounds that show a self-isomerization induced by an intramolecular proton transfer from the hydroxyl oxygen to the imine nitrogen through the O-H...N hydrogen bond, and they were observed thermochromism. Solid state reaction at mild temperature has drawn more and more attention due to its high efficiency, energy saving and environmentally friendly features. Transition metals have d-orbits. Transition metal coordination compounds easily cause d-d transition or change transfer transition. So they show dramatic colors. In this paper, two organic hydrate thermochromic material and a series of thermochromic transition metal complexes are synthesized, and a schiff was synthesized too. The principal results are listed below.1.Two kinds of organic hydrate thermochromic material are synthesized. The compounds are found that they show thermochromic mechanics: p-nitrophenol 1.5H2O and p-nitroaniline 3H2O are conjugated between phenyl rings and water molecules. They are characterized by charge-transfer interactions with counterions. The charge-transfer energy levels in the solid state are sensitive to the molecular environment so that thermochromism occurs when the polymer is subjected to hydration /dehydration sequences.2. Transition metal complexes of 4-aminoacetophenone, N-salicylideneamino-pnitroaniline, p-aminoaniline ?3H2O p-aminoacetanilide etc are synthesized and their thermochromism are investigated by IR,far I.R. and TG-DSC.3. N, N'-Disalicylidenedianilines and its transition metal complexes of NiCl2 6H2O are synthesized by liquid and solid state reaction at room temperature, and their thermochromism are investigated by IR,far I.R. and TG-DSC.
