Internal thread tapping is one of the most demanding machining operations. Thread tapping, however, is one of the most time-consuming and slowest processes among all the machining processes practiced in modern industry all the while. One of the major problems in the process is properties of tapping loads. There are two different loads in tapping procedure, that is, static load and dynamic load. The latter plays a great role in all resistant forces. The most important is asymmetric distributing characteristic of load. In order to tap, one dynamic force or torque must be provided for tapping. Power source of traditional tapping can provide a kind of static load merely. If the dynamic is changing, it is difficult to accomplish internal thread tapping. So threading is the bottleneck in modern manufacturing obviously. Though some useful methods and technologies are developed, a substantial breakthrough is on the road. Now a innovational tapping idea, impact tapping, has been bring forward. The new technology can provided the demanding dynamic energy for tapping. This innovational idea has been discussed and analyzed on the basis of technology innovation theory.Through researching the development of tapping, a conclusion can be got that internal thread tapping is always pushed by technology and pulled by marketing requirement. The innovational model is a compound one driven by combined push-and-pull. Guided by this theory, principal and structural designs for impact tapping have been completed by using of target tree and functional framework drawing from technology innovation. This has laid a foundation for manufacturing sample. Otherwise the cycle of tapping can be divided into four strokes, non- load, cushion, tapping and reverting. Based on systematic kinetics theory, kinetic model and simulation model of impact tapping system have been built up in this paper and solved. Dynamic properties of whole tapping process have been simulated and analyzed by computer. Those kinetic velocity curves of hammer in whole cycle, non-load, cushion and tapping stroke, and curves of the upper frame in whole cycleand cushion stroke have been got too. At last the dynamic testing blue print designed for impact tapping system has been researched and can serve for following test which can be compared with theoretic analyses.
