This thesis described the research and design of a motion control card.With the development of computer technology, to meet the requirmeht of flexibility and the ability of reconfigration from machine industry, many different kinds of open CNC system have been developed. Especially the PC BASED CNC system is the focus of attention. It utilizes the motion control card to achieve the real-time control of motors; meanwhile the PC takes charge of man-machine conversation. Comparily, the systems implemented with the microchip have low prices with low abilities, on the other hand, the systems with DSP with high abilities is so expensive that most factories can not afford it.The design described in this thesis covers the electrical design of the whole card and the logic design of the CPLD produced by ALTERA Company. The digital process speed, interpolation speed, interpolation accuracy are higher than the NC system based on microchip. The design avoids the hign cost that the DSP system has.
