High Speed Machining (HSM) is one of the most Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, which is developing quickly recently. It can decrease the cutting time greatly, and also improve the precision of machining. The functional parts of High Speed NC Machining Tools and High Machining Center (Such as, NC System, High Speed Spindle and High Speed Feed System, etc.) have been improved by the great development of the High Speed NC Machining tools and High Machining Center. HSM has been applied in many fields, such as aviation industry, automobile industry and die machining industry, etc.Linear Motor Feed System (LMFS) is one main functional part of the High Speed Machining tools. LMFS has changed the inherent defects of the traditional drive mode driven by ball screw drastically which have large elastic deformation, slow response, reverse clearance and friction wear, and has some advantages of high speed ,high acceleration, high positioning accuracy and unlimited travel, all these merits made it becoming the leading way gradually in the high speed feed system of machining tools field. The "GD-3 Feed System Driven by Linear Motor" is studied in this thesis. The mathematical model of the linear induction motor is built in the way of motor science, and then the control model of the linear motor feed system is proposed, and the relations between the parameters in the model and the system dynamic performances are studied, using the Simulink Module in MATLAB. The simple experiment facility for controlling the linear induction motor has been established through the use of DSP trial device. Based on the for the frequency-to-speed theory of the AC motor, the SPWM program of linear motor is designed by the method of digital control way. And the program is validated to be able to satisfy the requirement of the linear induction motor driving through the hardware simulation.
