Based on analysis of current research situation of fine coal centrifugal dewatering technologies in China and abroad and a summary of writer's experience from worksite, the paper indicates the importance of fine coal centrifugal dewatering technology and theoretical study direction should carry out in this field in future. The paper describes the basis characteristics of centrifugal field, presents the main way of increasing separation factor and establishes the kinetics model of filter cake on the basis of dewatering mechanism of fine coal screw centrifuge and use the mathematical method and theoretical mechanics, deduces the calculation formulas for screw torque, power of cake delivery and axial force of screw torque, power of cake delivery and axial force of screw changed with the vary of parameters such as semi-taper of drum, the frication angle between material and drum and screw rising angle, laying a theoretical foundation for determining design parameters of whole machine. The calculation formula of cake remained in dewatering section was deduced by analyzing the movement of cake in drum, indicates the factors which influence duration time of material in dewatering section, presents the effective measure that suitable to feed with low solid contents, able to extend the dewatering time and movement distance of material. The calculation formula for capacity and power consumption of fine coal vertical centrifuge was deduced and verified by examples. The general principle for selection design parameters for fine coal large-scale vertical screw centrifuge was established. Through study on the design parameter, theoretical calculation and compared the typical fine coal vertical screw centrifuge made in China to that in abroad, verifies the validity of theoretical study, presents the new thinking to improve the home made fine coal vertical screw centrifuge. The research lays a reliable theoretical and practice foundation for developing large-scale, high efficiency fine coal vertical screw centrifuge, and is importance to promote the progress of centrifugal liquid-solid filtration separation technology of fine coal.
