In this paper, a kind of composite conductive fiber, using carbon black as conductive medium and PET as polymer matrix, was studied in order to alter the conductivity of PET fiber and expand its applications with a lower cost. Slices with deferent carbon content were used. Conductive fibers were obtained by melt-spinning method and a further treatment was carried out. Rheology of the CB/PET mixed system, the technics of the melt-spinning, the conductivity and mechanism of the fiber were investigated, and the optimizing technological parameters of the melt-spinning were got.It was found that when content of CB was below 30% which was treated with coupling agent, it would be consistent very well with PET. And the higher the CB content was, the lower the apparent viscosity would be. If CB content was not changed, the apparent viscosity would be lower with the increase of the shear stress or temperature. In addition, the CB content, the dispersion of CB and spinning temperature are also the key factors that would influence the spinning technics. Extruding speed, wind speed and the cooling conditions are the important factors that influence the quality of the finished yarn. All the mentioned factors were discussed in this article.Furthermore, the conductivity and mechanism of fibers prepared were analyzed and studied. CB content and its dispersion were the key factors that would affect the conductivity of the fiber. The resistance of the fiber was stable either in dilute acid or dilute alkali, but was lowed after drawing. When temperature was increased from 20 ℃ to 80℃, the resistance of the fiber would be higher at first and then lower. Otherwise, CB destroyed the continuous phase, so the CB/PET fiber's tensile strength, fracture elongation and initial modulus were all lowed. In this research, when CB content reached 22wt%, the CB/PET fiber's volumeresistance could arrive at 103 Ω· cm which come up to an international advanced level.
