Ferrocene-derivatives containing phosphorus are attracting more attention as their interesting topological structures and properties. The design and synthesis of novel Ferrocene-derivatives containing phosphorus have been of important current interest in the chemistry of organometallic chemistry and organophosphorus chemistry. The potential applications of these compounds will be intensive in the field of asymmetric catalysis, biological activity, superconductivity, magnetism, photo-chemistry, electrical chemistry, etc. Simultaneously, they can coordinate with metallic ions to form complexs with fascinating structures and unique properties.A simple and new route for the synthesis via reaction of 1-ferrocenylethanol with phosphorus trichloride, then alcoholysis and rearrangement under mild conditions provides three ferrocenyl-phosphonate esters A, B and C. Subsequently Me3SiBr-mediated hydrolysis of C gives 1-ferrocenylethyl phosphonic acid, FcCH(CH3)P(O)(OH)2. Our synthetic method for ferrocenyl-phosphonate esters has not been reported. These compounds are characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR, UV and MS,which showed that the structures of these compounds are the same as desired. We discuss the synthetic method for ferrocenyl-phosphonate esters and possible mechanics, and consider that there is a kind of Michaelis-Arbuzov rearrangement happened in reaction. The properties of oxido-reduction of these compounds are researched by CV. We found different PH can influence obviously oxidation-reduction potential. Under acidic condition there is a positive shift and a negative shift happens under basic condition. These compounds all have properties of light sensation because there are changes of UV spectrum after they are illuminated by light. We also found there are greater properties of light sensation for for them in solution with greater properties electron donating...
