The research and development of silane coupling agents were reviewed. Based on the content analysis and distillation separation of the by-product the process of the preparation of Y -chloropropyltrichloro-silane, the synthesis of propyltriethoxysilane and its application in the rubber were studied systematically.The effects on the synthesis of propyltriethoxysilane, such as the quality of raw material distillate, ratio of reactant, time of reflux, were investigated and the optimum conditions were obtained when the main distillation fractions of the by-product was reacted with absolute ethyl alchol reacting under reduced pressure by the water-jet vacuum device, mass ratio 1 : 0.8(the main distillation fractions of the by-product of boiling point between 118~125℃: absolute ethyl alchol), choosing the pyridine as the absorbents of hydrochloride, in those conditions, 1.121 gram main distillation fractions would be consumed when 1 gram product was prepared. The produce were analyzed and attributed by GC-MS, infra-red sepectrometry and gas chromatography, and the results showed that the content of propyltriethoxysilane was about 98%.In the bases of the synthesis of propyltriethoxysilane in the lab, industrial experiments of its synthesis were carried out. Utilizing the equipments and the processes of the preparation of Y -chlorotrichloro-silane, the propyltriethoxysilanes were produced successfully.Through the application of synthetical production in the rubber, the resulted showed propyltriethoxysilanes had good effects in single rubber and blending rubber, and could improve the performance of treatment and physics obviously. When the propyltriethoxysilane replaced partly Si69 in the rubbers, the meliorative effect of rubber's performance was almost the same and its resource wastage was reduced significantly. So propyltriethoxysilanes had good application prospect in the rubber.The function mechanism of propyltriethoxysilanes were studied. The propyltriethoxysilanes could improve rubber's performance by changing the surface performance of silica hydrated in the rubber resulted inimproving the compatibility of silica hydrated and rubber.
