In the various methods of waste water treatment, flocculation is one of method that has the widest application and the lowest cost and is in common use. But the key of flocculation is to study high efficiency flocculants. The aim of this paper is to prepare a kind of polymeric metal silicateflocculants------PZSS, adopting soluble glass and ZnSO4 to obtain it. The method ofpreparing PZSS is to employ soluble glass to gain polysilicic acid in the acidity condition, and then adds solution of ZnSO4 into polysilicic acid which has activated a period of time, making polysilicic acid and ZnSO4 react to prepare PZSS. In the process of preparing PZSS, the paper discusses factors that influence the flocculent performance of PZSS, such as SiO2 (%), the molar ratio of Zn2+/SiO2, the reaction time and the living time. Besides, the paper also discusses methods to improve stability of PZSS. Then, the best preparation conditions of PZSS are obtained. Meanwhile, the paper discusses the technical conditions which influence the flocculent effect of PZSS, and compares with PFSS and PASS in their effect of flocculating, getting rid of color, oil and CODcr. The flocculent mechanism of PZSS is also being analyzed initially in this paper.
