Sizing process is a very important procedure of weaving preparation. The quality of sizing yarn is crucial to weaving efficiency and product quality, especially to flax-class fabric. The prominent problems are as follows: in the process of sizing, the hairiness is so mass, long, and hard that it hardly hold down, the abrasion resistance of sizing yarn is bad, sizing yarn easy crisp, weaving efficiency low, worse product quality, plenty of faller in the process of weaving, higher relative humidity demand, product condition deteriorate. In order to enhancing the weavblity of flax yarn and improving the weaving condition, we must study the sizing technology, select reasonable sizing formula and constitute reasonable sizing course.The main purpose of this thesis is to research a optimum size formula and to apply pre-wet sizing technology to improve traditional sizing technology. Flax/cotton(55/45) blended yarn is used in this experiment. Through comparing the adhesion to the yarn of oxidized starch, phosphate ester starch, crosslinked starch. We adapt nine size formula that the main component is crosslinked starch. All size formula experiment are gone at the same sizing machine in the condition of same technology parameter. After that, hairiness index, abrasion resistance times, breaking strength, breaking elongation and so on which adopting tradition sizing technology are tested. Then fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is adopted in the thesis, all experiment indexes are given different weight value according to actual conditions in mills. After mathematical analysis, the result shows that the 8st size formula is optimum. We use same method to do per-wet sizing experiment through adding a prewetting section on machine and test the performance of sizing yarn. Through comparing the performance indexes of sizing yarn of pre-wet sizing and traditional sizing method, we can draw a conclusion that it is practical the new type technology of pre-wet sizing apply to the sizing of flax/cotton(55/45) blended yarn in lab, and it can enhance efficiently the performance of sizing yarn.
