Milk fiber mainly uses milk as raw material and becomes the cheese protein of linear molecular structure after it is treated by dewatering, deoiling, degrease, separating, purifying. The cheese protein becomes milk fiber finally after adopting copolymerization of high-tech means with polyacrylonitrile and then through the wet spinning process.Milk/cotton blended yarn used in this study containing acrylic-based milk protein fiber by35%and long-staple cotton by65%comes from Shanghai Home Milk Filament technology Co., LTD. Through the research and analysis on properties of milk/cotton blended yarn, it is concluded that milk/cotton blended yarn has general single-yarn strength, high elongation, nice uniform, high hygroscopicity, low twist and twist irregularity, more hairiness. Milk/cotton blended yarn can resist hot in dry environment and alkalis except for strong alkalis. But it can not resist hot in wet environment and acid. According to the properties above, we should note that reasonable processes should be used in next steps to avoid fabric quality declining markedly.Milk/cotton blended yarn can be knitted through the study and five kinds of knitted fabrics were developed. The knitting process and the key points of the process were analysed and expounded. And the basic properties of fabrics were tested. The result showed that milk/cotton blended yarn is suitable for developing knitted fabrics.Scouring and bleaching in one bath was used in the pre-treatment of milk/cotton blended yarn knitting fabric. Analyzing the influence of the dosage of sodium carbonate, bleaching agent, scouring agent, penetrating agent and the treatment temperature, time, pH value on fabrics, the scouring and bleaching process was optimized as scouring agent lg/L, sodium carbonate4g/L, osmotic agent JFC lg/L, pH value8, hydrogen peroxide25g/L, liquor ratio1:20, temperature80℃and time60min. After scouring, fabric was treated for20min with0.5g/L glacial acetic acid in80℃and then washed and dried. The whiteness of fabric treated increased obviously and the bursting strength declined slightly. Fabric damage is small and the satisfactory treatment effect was achieved.It is researched on dyeing techniques with the reactive dye on milk/cotton blended yarn knitted fabric. The process conditions were analyzed with single factor experiment method and orthogonal analytic method, such as the dosage of sodium carbonate, anhydrous sodium sulphate, the fixing temperature and fixing time. With fabric dyeing rate and the K/S value as indicators, the optimized dyeing process obtained:reactive KD-8B dyes2%(o.w.f), pH value8, anhydrous sodium sulphate20g/L, osmotic agent JFC1g/L, the dyeing temperature60℃, the dyeing time30min, the fixing time20min, the fixing temperature70℃, liquor ratio1:20. Testing the dyeing properties of the dyed fabrics, the result showed that the washing color fastness, the cricking color fastness and the perspiration color fastness all meet the quality demand well.Through the tests on the wearabilities of the milk/cotton knitted fabric (comfortableness, durability, dimensional stability and appearance), the results showed that the air permeability, the heat preservation, the wet permeability, the bursting strength, the crease recovery of milk/cotton knitted fabric are all good, but the rigidity-flexibility and the drapability are common. We appraised the wearability of the five kinds of milk/cotton blended yarn knitted fabric with fuzzy mathematical integrated evaluation method. The result showed that all the properties of milk/cotton blended yarn knitted fabric meet the demand of wearability standard. Milk/cotton blended yarn is suitable for developing knitted fabric. The products will have the broad development prospect because they fit the consumption concept of fashion and health.
