Cucurbit[n]uril has been an important part of supermolecule field these years. The cucurbiturils are potentially as useful as well-known host molecules such as crown ethers, cyclodextrins (CDs). Their host-guest chemistry as well as supramolecular assemblies based on Q[n] has been studied and summarized in a topical review article. However, the poor solubility in common solvents has limited development of the chemistry of cucurbit[n]uril. Thus, synthesis of Q[n] derivatives especially the ones with active groups that allow them to dissolve in both aqueous systems and common organic solvents have received greatest attention. This paper mainly contains four parts: l).The hydroxycucurbit[5]uril was synthesized by using the cucurbit[5]uril as starting materials. This compound was characterized by 1HNMR ,ESMS etc; Though optimum design the reproducibility had been raised signaficiantly .The crystal of hydroxycucurbit[5]uril was prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction ;furthermore derivatives of hydroxyl-cucurbit[5]uril were synthesized such as acetyl of cucurbiturils which were characterized by 1H NMR; 2).A serial of methylperhydroxycucurbturils were prepared for the first time by using methylcucurbiturils as starting materials. These compounds were characterized by 1HNMR, ESMS, etc;The crystal of Me2Q[5](OH)8 was prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, the structures of these products would not change by this method; these compounds have better solubility in water and it was predicted to have good stereoselectivity in further reaction; 3).Two new polymers were prepared by using methylperhydroxy- cucurbit[5]uril as starting material cross-linked with 1,4-Phenylene diisocyanate and epichlorohydrin respectively. These compounds were characterized by IR spectroscopy. Because these two cross-linking agents have oleophilic and hydrophilic groups respectively, the properties of each product are quite different from the other; 4).The crystal of Me2Q[5] was prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction.
