The soybean protein fiber is a new material in textile Thanks to its fine denier, light specific gravity, light strength and silklike luster, it has so excellent cashmere handle, silk softness and heat resistant properties that it has been called manmade cashmere and found wide application. The Spandex which has high elasticity was developed in recent years. The fabrics with Spandex was very comfortable. The Spandexwas found wide application in many fields.Coverspun elastic yarns with different core-coverage ,coverage technique, spandex fineness, elongation percentage are spun on the spinning machine with soybean protein fiber and spandex, and some experimental about the strength, elongation percentage and elasticity have been done in order to study the properties of the soybean protein fiber/spandex coverspun elastic yarn. The influence of core-coverage, coverage technique, spandex fineness, elongation percentage to the properties of coverspun elastic yams are also discussed. At the same time, we compare the practical fineness and theoretical fineness, which can do some work to design the rational coverspun elastic yam technics for the practical production.By the analysis of the results, the following conclusions can be deduced. With the increase of the core-coverage, the strength of coverspun elastic yarns increased and when the core-coverage is reached higher point the strength of coverspun elastic yarns decreased. With the increase of the elongation percentage of spandex, the strength of coverspun elastic yarns increased. With the increase of the core-coverage and the elongation percentage, the elasticity of the coverspun elastic yams was very complicated. In the last, the optimized technology of the coverspun elastic yam wae obtained by the orthogonal method.
