Research And Development Of XLA Fibre And Its Core-spun Yarn And Low Elastic & Wrinkle-Resistant Fabric

DOW XLA is an unique ethylene-olefin copolymer at low crystallinity synthesized using Dow's proprietary INSITE TMtechnology by DOW chemical company. The fibers are manufactured by a melt spinning process.DOW is a soft elastic fibre,which is extremely resistant to heat and chemicals such as alkalies, acids, and oxidizing agent.This new elastic fiber can be used in textiles togetherwith base fibers according to conventional techniques.Its high degree of stretchability, combined with agood retractive force, imparts comfort and dimensionalstability to textiles, even after repeated elongation,stretching.Incorporating DOW XLA fiber into woven fabrics offers garments with soft stretch, easy care, and durability.It will still remain the good features after many times of wash and dry cleaning. DOW XLA fiber is also highly resistant to light, enablingvaluable processing advantages and excellent durability.The paper begins from the reseach of the microstructure of the XLA fibre with the technology of SEM, Infrared Spectra Analysis, NMR,which conclude that the cross section is long ellipse, molecule is made of -CH3,-CH2-,-CH- and so on.Then the paper goes to the test and analysis of the tenacity and the elongation of xla and the spandex.The tenacity of XLA is 0.93cN/dtex and the elongation is about 520% which are less the spandex's.But the initial modulus is higher the spanex's.the elasitc recovery of XLA will decrease to 80% when the clongation percentage is above 220%.The same cotton cover fibres are taken to spin the XLA/COTON and SPANDEX/COTTON core spun yarns with the same paraments on the same spinning frames,which are both 50S+40D.The quality of SPANDEX/COTTON yarn is better the XLA/COTTON yarn because of their different cross section.The elasiticity of the XLA/COTTON weft elastic fabrics is from 12.8%～14.3%.Finally,6 pieces of XLA/COTTON weft elastic fabrics are finished with different ways and test the wrinkle resistent.The fabrics number1 and 2 are the best ,the angle of recovery is up to 315°which is better than the qualified standard of wrinkle-resistent fabrics of Nisshinbo.
