Dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) is a new sort of plastic material with grate potential application. It has been used in the representative industry of motor manufacture, home appliance, architecture and so on. The whole process of the DCPD—RIM has been researched in this paper on the basis of developing the mold for the car's door-board. The author hopes that the related conclusions can be as the technical references for the practical production.The process not only affects the quality of the product and production efficiency, but also be as the reference of the mold design. So it is very necessary to analyze it. Rather particular researches have been done in this paper on the pivotal process of the whole process of the DCPD--RIM .The paper mainly accomplishes the following tasks:At first, the whole process flow of the DCPD—RIM has been analyzed, and the two pivotal process of the whole process has been summarized, namely filling process and cooling process, pointing out the emphases of the whole process research.Then, the CAE software of moldflow is used to the simulation of filling, and gets many related conclusions about the filling, including the gate design principle and the bubble problem. The software of ansys is used to the simulation of the cooling process, and getting many valuable correlative conclusions about the cooling of the mold.Finally, the characteristics of the mold design are summarized on the basis of the production on the front researches , then the CAD software of Pro/E is used to accomplish the three-dimensional design of the mold.
