In this thesis, eight novel complexes were synthesized using 2-methyl-5-nitrobenzene -sulfonic acid, 5-sulfosalicylic acid(H3SSA) and 4,4`-diaminostilbene -2,2`-disulfonic acid(DSD acid) as ligands which are K+?C7H6NO5S-1(1),[Ni(H2O)6](C7H6NO5S)2?4H2O(2),[Mg(H2O)6] (C7H6NO5S)2?2H2O(3),{[Ca(H2SSA)2(H2O)]?2H2O}n(4),{[Sr(H2SSA)2(H2O)4]? 2H2O}n(5), [Mg(C14H12N2O6S2)(H2O)4](6), {[Sr(C14H12N2O6S2)(H2O)6]·2H2O}(7) and [Ba(C14H12N2O6S2) (H2O)2](8),and the IR,TG and crystal structures of these comounds were characterized. In the eight compounds, compound 1,2,3 and 4 represent layered structures, compound 5 shows a one-dimensional double-chain motif , compound 6 and 7 can be described as one-dimensional chain structures, but the packing view of compound 8 shows it has two-dimensional planed structure. The packing views of compound 1 and 4 represent, the inorganic layers composed by the K+ and Ca2+ lie between the organic layers comprised by the ligand 2-methyl-5-nitrobenzene -sulfonic acid and 5-sulfosalicylic acid acid, and the aryl rings between layers are parelleled to each other. In compound 1, the K+ is eight-coordinated by eight oxygen atoms from six different 2-methyl-5-nitrobenzenesalfonic acids, but in compound 4, the Ca2+ is six-coordinated by five sulfonate atoms from H2SSA and one water molecule. In compound 2 and 3, the M2+(M=Ni2+,Mg2+)lies on an inversion center and is octahedrally coordinated by six water molecules. The anions do not coordinate to the M2+, but act as counter-ions. The [M(H2O)6]2+(M=Ni2+,Mg2+) anions, water molecules and anions are connected through a complex pattern of hydrogen-bonding interactions, resulting in a three-dimensional supramolecular network. Compound 2 and 3 show their layered structures, and the unit of aryl ring of 2-methyl-5-nitrobenzene -sulfonic acid is paralleled to each other between layers. It shows Sr2+ of compound 5 is eight-coordinated by three different sulfonate oxygen atoms, one carboxylic oxygen atom and four water molecules. The coordinate geometry of Sr2+ can be best described as distorted hexagonal bipyramide. The packing view of compound 5 represents it has a one-dimensional double-chain motif. In compound 6 and 7, the Mg2+ and Sr2+ are both linked to two oxygens from two different DSD acids, resulting in the information of one-dimensional chain structure. The Mg2+ is six -coordinated by other four water molecules. The Sr2+ is eight-coordinated by other six water molecules. The Ba2+ in compound 8 is eight-coordinated by four sulfonate oxygens from four DSD acids, one nitrogen atom from–NH2 and three water molecues. The compound 8 shows a two -dimensional planed structure from the packing view.
