Pearl blend cellulose fiber (Pearl fiber) is a kind of new functional fiber. The preparation processes include the physical mixing of micro pearl powder with viscose pulp and then the wet spinning. With the mass production of pearl fiber, as well as the development of its blended fabric, the establishment of an unified identification testing standard is indispensable. This thesis mainly investigated from the following four aspects:1. A review of the existing fiber identification methods has been made. With the new fibers development trend, the identification process should be changed accordingly. That is the inspection of traditional fibers should be taken as the main string, while the related auxiliary and additives should also be considered. Thus the thesis proposes to use instrumental analysis as the testing methods of pearl fiber.2. Through research on the microscopic structure of pearl fiber, some characters have been determined. Comparison between pearl fiber and viscose has been conducted. The fiber surface appearance and inorganic particles distribution are observed by using AFM and TEM. Meanwhile, the infrared spectrometry of both fibers has showed the difference in inorganic composition between them. Then by using TG/DTA determine the trace inorganic composition of pearl fiber.3. In order to study the mixture system composition of pearl fiber, ten elements' content in six pearl fiber and other four fiber samples were determined by means of ICP-AES method. The results were used for the development of element fingerprint chromatogram. The principal component analysis and Q-type cluster analysis were applied for the study of pearl fiber characteristics. Experimental results indicated that the elemental distribution characteristics were related to the types of fibers, thus an identification method for pearl fiber was proposed.4. The determination of amino acids in pearl fiber, macre blend fiber and viscose by the automatic analyzer is presented in this thesis. The result shows that there are more than 14 kinds of amino acids in pearl fiber, related to the 17 kinds of amino acids in pearl, while no amino acid was found in viscose. Correlation analysis and Q-type analysis of the test result have provided a new method for fiber identification.The systematic identification approach of pearl fiber was founded by the proposition of 4 index: amino acid content, amino acid types, element the fingerprint chromatogram and element content of Ca. Finally, the test standard for pearl fiber and inspection method of blending ratio for pearl fiber blended fabric were established. Some applications of the test standard were described in the way of both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
