The Kapok fiber is mainly used in wadding field for the properties of short length,low strength,smooth surface,big lumen. So the kapok is mainly used for padding, which is used in making product of buoyancy and traditional wadding. But because the cohesion and the strength is very low, so the rank of the product is not high. For the purpose of developing new type of fiber and fully using of natural fiber, we use our patent of technology . For the purpose of developing new type fiber and fully using material of natural fiber, we used Rando air-lay machine produced by American company named Rando to produce different ratios of Kapok/down mixed wadding material and Kapok floating material. We tested the difference of buoyancy in different producing process. So it can be provided as a reference for the kapok in making and applying padding.We tested the following properties of Kapok/down mixed wadding: thermal conductivity,warm ratio,compression ratio,bulkiness,linearity,Compression restoration. Though the compare and analysis, it can be concluded that:(1) the warm effect is promoted with the increase of content of Kapok and the warm effect is degraded with the increase of content of linear fiber; (2)The bulkiness of wadding increases with the increase of content of Kapok and degrades with the increase of content of linear fiber, so this can get the wann effect of wadding became worse. But after multiple compressions the affect of Kapok become small;(3)The compression ratio of wadding increases with the decline of content of Kapok and increase of ratio of linear fiber to down, but after multiple compressions the affect of Kapok become big;(4)The linearity of wadding degrades with the increase of content of Kapok and increase with the content of Kapok. But after multiple compressions the affect of Kapok become big;(5)The compression restoration of wadding degrades with the increase of content of Kapok; the compression restoration degrades with the content of linear fiber. The relation of compression ratios of the three fibers is: down>linear fiber>Kapok.We tested the floating ratio and buoyancy decreasing ratio of Kapok floating materials. Though the compare and analysis, we can conclude that:(1)The floating performance of lifesaving tools made by new type Kapok/tacky fiber blended floating material are better than that made by Kapok in the traditional way, so it is very valuable;(2)The producing process of new type Kapok floating materials is: Kapok/tacky fiber blended in some ratioâ†'shredding tacky fibers by lickerinâ†'premixing tacky fiber with Kapok using the spiked lattice mixer of spreading readthways and fecthing directlyâ†'mixing again using the spiked lattice mixer of spreading readthways and fecthing directlyâ†'air-laid(the problem of low strength of semi-manufactured net can be solved by laying non-weaving fabric belowâ†'thermo-fusion reinforce(reinforcing the strengthen of fiber web though forming the structure of fiber-fusion )â†'compressed in the thermal condition in order to promoting volume densityâ†'product(fibrous assembly in the shape of sheet)â†'cutting for making lifesaving tool. It is easy to make it real for industrial production;(3)The first forming block made by Kapok/tacky fiber has a good floating performance, and no scrap material is left, so the producing ratio is high. The producing process is: fiber get in some ratioâ†'shredding tacky fibers by lickerinâ†'premixing tacky fiber with Kapok using the spiked lattice mixer of spreading readthways and fecthing directlyâ†'mixing again using the spiked lattice mixer of spreading readthways and fecthing directlyâ†'air-carded mixingâ†'sending the blended fibers into the dieâ†'thermo-fusion reinforce(forming the structure of fiber-fusion)â†'compressed in order to promoting volume densityâ†'product(fibrous assembly in the shape of sheet)â†'raped with fabric for making lifesaving tool. The operation of sending blended fibers into the die can not be realized in the moment. It must promote the automation of equipment in order to realize the production.(4) The difference of floating performances of different Kapok fibers is big. It is hard to get the flotage only from length,diameter and linearity, so we must test the floating ratio and buoyancy decreasing ratio.
