Fiber length is an important factor to the properties of spinning,and closely related to the spinning technology,directly influencing utilization value of the fiber processing.Due to the properties of light(more than 90%hollowness),shorter length of fiber,these restricted kapok application,and at domestics and overseas,it has not yet reported that the length and length distribution of kaopok fiber,only known a relatively range.To meet the demand of textile application and planting,this paper firstly measured the internal structure of kapok fruit and the fiber length distribution.And then this paper undertaked the work of the fiber length instrument about cotton and kapok fiber.The resreach content and conclusion of this paper were as follows:(1)The analysis for length distribution of kapok fiberUsing sampling method of a cluster and fangduan,this paper adopted the single fiber length method to measure the fiber length of kapok fruit.The results shows that found that fiber length distribution of Hainan Island and Indonesia kapok fruit has the same discreteness characteristic with natural fiber'distribution.For Hainan Island kapok,the length of fiber focused on 11.5?25.5mm,while the fiber length of Indonesia kapok was mainly ranged from 15.5 to 27.5mm.For these two kinds of kapok,the difference was little inside a fruit from head to tail,while the difference was great between fruits,the longer the fruit,the longer the fiber length.And the fiber length difference between Indonesia and Hainan Island kapok was obvious,which was supported by approximately 10 mm in the difference of mean length by weight between the two kinds of kapok.The results measured by a cluster and fangduan sampling method has no significant difference,but with the consideration that textile fiber has to be processed,so suggested the fangduan method.Weight percentage of the available Indonesia kapok above 16.5 mm was 79?93%,less than 40%for Hainan Island kapok shorter fruit,but mean length by weight of Sichuan Panzhihua kapok fiber was 15.2mm.The results was not in favor for textile application.So kapok planting should adopt Indonesia kapok with longer fiber and extend planting.(2)Research on accuracy of double fiber length testing methodIn order to measure the length of fiber fast and accurately,our research group developed a kind of photoelectric system which can test the length of textile fiber.By using the photoelectric test system to measure cotton which are with different producing area and different length,the results found that the length index this system measured only had small fluctuations,so these proves that photoelectric system has strong stability;To verify accurateness of the photoelectric test system,this paper compared the results measured by photoelectric test system and single fiber length method,and the results showed that two tests method test the mean length by weight,body length,quality length,coefficient of variation measured by the two method matched well.Be sure that the test number that the photoelectric testing system required is 5 times.times;Mean length by weight was measured by Photoelectric testing system,HVI and AFIS has significantly correlation,correlation coefficient R2 separately were 0.9149,0.991,and also showed the feasibility of the photoelectric test system;Compare the correlation of the variation coefficient index measured by photoelectric test system and AFIS,it was found that correlation between the two test method is low,so this system must strengthen correction work.on variation coefficient of the photoelectric test system.(3)Preliminary exploration for the SFC equation based on photoelectric test methodSFC had an important effect on production quality and technology.But at present,the instrument in textile industry cannot measure SFC fast and accurately,this cannot meet the demand of cotton trade and modern textile industry.This paper tested ten kinds of fiber used the photoelectric testing system,every sample was tested three times,and totally got 30 sets of physical information.At the same time this paper extracted the information related to SFC from the image as much as possible,and at last only extracted 8 variables,but considering the interaction between variables,according to the actual situation,combining different variables,got a total of 15 variables.With the help of SPSS software,this paper analyzed multiple variables stepwise regression,empirical formula of SFC is as follows:SFC=-55.162+6.291E-5×Im+5.527E-5×Wbeared+124.434×(S12.7/Stotal)+418.175×I16/(L*Im).But considering the actual operation,for W beared,this variable required balance instrument,so removed these correlated variable,the fonnula was calculated again,the results was as follows:SFC=-49.469+95.033×(S16/Stotal)+9.894E-5×Im,+5.566E-8x(I16/Im)...
