Xi'an, Land Use / Land Cover Change On The Ecological Environment And Its Driving Force

Land use, as social economic activities of human that have the purpose and intention, runs through the whole history progress which human live and development in. Soil mantled change, which results from territorial exploitation utilize activity of human, is regarded as main reason of global environment change, therefore the research of land use change become the leading edge and hotspot of investigative all over the world at present. Especially the study on natural and social driving forces of land use change will play an important role in understanding mechanism management and setting up prediction model of land use change.According to land use data of Xi'an from 1996 to 2005, this paper studies on the land use situation of Xi'an at present. Then, from different views, the paper analyzes the dynamic change of land use in Xi'an, and concludes the character of land use. After that, it discusses the influence of land use on environment. Meanwhile, combing qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, the papers do the research on the driving forces of land use change. It uses a soft called SPSS to set up a model define the main influencing factors. Based on this, the paper predicts the trend of construction land in Xi'an in 2020. At last, it puts forward some suggestions on the sustainable development of land resource in Xi'an.(1)In the change range of land use, the area of arable land, grass land, and unused land were declining, but the garden, woodland, settlements and mining sites, transportation sites, and waters respectively were in a growth trend.(2)In the change speed of land use, the size of arable land reduced most quickly, and that of grassland follows. The size of unused land reduced most slowly. Meanwhile, the size of transportation sites increases most quickly, and that of mining sites and settlements, garden, woodlands and waters follow.(3)In the change of land utilization structure, the diversification of land-use types was increasing on the whole. The land use structure became more and more complex.(4)The land use in Xi'an is not only in a period of development, but also going through an adjustment period.(5)LUCC can cause pollution of various aspects. Population growth and economic development is the main driving forces which lead change of land use in Xi'an. The development of tertiary industry in Xi'an also affects the change of construction land, and this impact is gradually strengthening. The trend forecast indicates that the major problems of Xi'an urbanization in the future is the shortage of land resources.
