| Land is the material basis for human survival and development. In some degree, Landuse/land cover change means the change of category in number, which reflects the patternof human being. Plenty of land use/land cover changes take place in the world and in areas.Analysis of land use/land cover change characteristic and driving forces, as well as thejudgment on the trend of sustainable development, are practically important and valuablein making land use planning management and land policy, together with the sustainabledevelopment of land resources. With the use of RS and GIS technology, this article selected two satellite images ofWuhan City in1999and2009.After projection transformation, cutting, geometrycorrection enhancing process and so on, with the method of supervised classification, thearticle has interpreted the two king of situations of land use/land cover of Wuhan city, thenestablished land use/land cover database. Besides, the driving forces of land use/landcover changes from the natural environment, economic, population and policy forces areanalyzed in combination of quantitative and qualitative ways. Last, on the base of theresults above, the article calculated the ecological footprint, ecological capacity andecological deficit from1999to2009with the use of society-economic data and ecologicalfootprint method, and made preliminary judgment on the lever of sustainable developmentof Wuhan city.Main research results are as followed:(1) The article interpreted the two satellite images in1999and2009, extracted usefulinformation, and established two land use/land cover databases of1999and2009. It showsthat: the area of arable land, grass, water and unused land decreased of different degree, and grass did the most, compared as1999, in2009the area of grass decreased by292.1%.The area of unused land decreased by239.8km~2, takes129.4%of the total unused land. The area of arable land decreased by740.9km~2, takes21.9%of the total arable land. Thearea of forest and construction both increased and the ratio is42.9%and43.3%respectively. The decrease of the construction approximately equals the increase of thearable land and water, which illustrated that the increase of the arable land and water result from the occupation of the building, transportation and facility. In a word, the rangeabilityof land use/land cover change in Wuhan is much more than before.(2) With the use of statistics of society and economy, and the method of maincomponent analysis, the study include that two main components have influenced the landuse/land cover change of Wuhan city. The first main component is population, urbanization and economy, the second is intensive agriculture. Besides, the article statedthe mechanism of national environment, economic, population, and policy factors to landuse/land cover change in great detail.(3) The results above indicated that, nearly11years, the development of Wuhan cityhas been based on the situation that the capita ecological footprint is greater thanecological capacity. Since2003, both of ecological footprint and ecological capacity havean increasing trend, and the gap has been growing, that is the deficit rising. So, biologicaland energy resources of the perimeter zones contributed to the development of Wuhan city,so as to the imbalance between Wuhan and its perimeter zones, which affects thesustainable development and coordinated growth of economy-society-environment systemto a certain extent in Hubei province. |
